Office of Civic Engagement and Service Learning
About
Civic Engagement is acting upon a sense of responsibility to the common good in our communities, including not only only our geographic communities, from local to global, but also those based on interests and identity.
The Office of Civic Engagement and Service Learning provides support to courses which fulfill the ethics and civic engagement core student learning outcome: students will demonstrate knowledge and application of principles of ethical and civic responsibility.
Service learning is a teaching and learning strategy that integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility and strengthen communities (Learn and Serve America). Community-based service learning is reciprocal, balancing the goal of student learning with the goal of addressing real needs in the community.
